FLIPGRID in enhancing students’ speaking fluency

Abstract

Technology has opened up a new way to teach and study four skills of listening, speaking, reading, writing in English. Technology tools provide students with a wealth of materials but the number of students who use technology for their studies remains limited. Students still have difficulties in speaking English. Thus, the aim of this study is to examine the use of Flipgrid - a type of educational platform - to increase the speaking fluency for students in an English course at Thuongmai University. In 10 weeks, the participants were asked to post their 5-minute videos weekly. SPSS 20 has been used to analyze results for pre-test (first video), and post-test (last video). It is concluded that Flipgrid can be used to improve the level of fluency in speaking for the students.
