Abstract

The effective use of learning strategies and the accurate evaluation of their effectiveness for each subject are crucial to the students' learning process. This study focuses on surveying 35 Korean language majors currently enrolled in the Korean for Business and Economics subject, examining the level of use and effectiveness of learning strategies using a 10-point Likert scale. The study aims to identify discrepancies between students’ usage and their evaluation of effectiveness. Based on these discrepancies, the study identifies the underlying causes. The results show a difference in the assessment of usage and effectiveness among the strategies used by students. Furthermore, the study highlights that the primary reasons for this difference are students' limited knowledge and experience with the system of learning strategies, as well as their overestimation of the effectiveness of the strategies they frequently employ.
