Abstract

The focus of the research was on the pronunciation features of consonant clusters among 48 Vietnamese informants at C1 level of English according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages and 12 American informants. The Vietnamese informants were divided into four groups basing on their education (domestic or international) and time of English using per day. The pronunciation of consonant clusters (at the beginning and ending positions) among these informants were then compared to that of the native informants’ group and in the Cambridge Advanced Learner’s Dictionary. The result shows some distinctive differences among the Vietnamese groups  themselves and with the American one in terms of consonant clusters pronunciation.
