Translating poetry and English-Vietnamese translated poems

Abstract

The paper presents some issues on translating poetry and English-Vietnamese translated poems, mentions Lefevere’s poetry translation strategies, gives some points of view on translating poetry, analyzes and illustrates them through some English-Vietnamese translated poems. We believe that adaptation is the main method used to translate poetry and the translated versions must ensure both content and form of the original. In terms of content, the results showed that the translator ensured the title and the meaning of the main parts of speech (nouns, verbs, adjectives). In terms of form, the translator converted the original poem into a target poem
