Then’s movements in the life of the Tay people in some Northern areas

Abstract

Then Tay (practices of Then by Tay ethnic group), which is a form of culture, art and folklore with many unique features, has currently been registered by UNESCO on the list of intangible cultural heritages of humanity. Through the long history of formation and development, Then Tay has had many movements and changes in the direction of expansion and development of Then with new lyrics. The article synthesizes, analyzes, and evaluates the surveyed materials about Then Tay in some areas such as Dinh Hoa district, Thai Nguyen; Ba Be district, Bac Kan; Binh Lieu district, Quang Ninh; Chiem Hoa  district, Tuyen Quang; which are carried out by practitioners, students and collaborators who have been studying, living and working in these areas to clarify Then’s movements in the Tay people’s life through some aspects: performance environment, number of practicing artisans, contents, and transmission and instruction process in life.
