Expression of some semantic relationships in Vietnamese Dictionary

Abstract

The article explores some semantic relationships, a research direction according to the structural semantics theory, and how to express them in Vietnamese Dictionary (compiled by Institute of Linguistics, 2006). They are synonymy, antonymy, hyponymy and meronymy. Understanding the semantic relationships about concepts, subtypes, and characteristics of each subtype along with their expressions in the explanatory dictionary will help the compilers of explanatory dictionaries create more precise, clearer and more systematic definitions.
