Abstract

In many contexts, gestures, body actions, or sounds, colors, pictures, etc. become effective means of supporting language that are the non-verbal ones. They have contributed to making the expressive contents of language lively with many diverse colors, evoking more ideas that we would never have thought of without them. The article studies the non-verbal medium of painting through two books Thành ngữ sành điệu bằng tranh (The Stylish Idioms with Pictures) by the painter Thanh Phong in order to better understand its characteristics and roles
