Keywords:

This paper reviews studies on the treatment of interdisciplinary entries in encyclopedic dictionaries, focusing on Social Sciences. Drawing on representative international and Vietnamese research, including modern encyclopedias, lexicographic theories, interdisciplinary studies, and editorial projects, the paper analyzes dominant approaches, key achievements, and remaining limitations. The review shows that although interdisciplinarity is widely acknowledged in contemporary knowledge organization, the micro-level operationalization of interdisciplinary entries in encyclopedic dictionaries has not yet been systematically standardized. The paper therefore clarifies the academic positioning of this issue and provides a theoretical foundation for subsequent research on models and principles for compiling interdisciplinary entries in encyclopedic dictionaries within current scholarly discourse worldwide today.
