The reality of English-speaking reflex of second-year English-majored students at Hanoi University of Industry

Abstract

This study was conducted with the aim of investigating the reality of English-speaking reflex of second-year English-majored students at Hanoi University of Industry, and therefore proposing some solutions to help students improve their own Englishspeaking reflex. The study employs mixed method approach by using survey questionnaire for students, class observations and semi-structured interviews with teachers and students. The research results showed that the English-speaking reflex of the students under investigation was still slow and took time to produce. Students often used Vietnamese while interacting with their partners. Based on the current situation, some solutions are proposed to help students develop their English-speaking reflex, and some ideas for further studies in this field are also suggested for reseachers and educators.
