A study of vocabulary learning strategies used by undergraduate students majoring in Engineering at Hanoi University of Industry

Abstract

Vocabulary has been considered crucial factor to English learning. Insufficient vocabulary knowledge of the learners may lead to challenges in learning this language, especially for Enginneering students who can face with several obstacles such as a large number of technical terms with complex definitions that are rarely used in everyday communication. Moreover, the heavy focus on theoretical learning results in limited capacity for accurate vocabulary comprehension and application. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the vocabulary learning strategies used by undergraduate Engineering   students at Hanoi University of Industry and propose some recommendations for educators and curriculum developers to improve vocabulary learning among Engineering students, ultimately facilitating their language proficiency and academic success in their field
