Translation Errors of Business and Economic Noun Phrases from English into Vietnamese and vice versa in business and economic articles

Abstract

Noun phrases play an important role and appear with great frequency in English as well as Vietnamese sentences. Therefore, the learners who understand the meanings of the noun phrases in sentences will help understand the contents and meanings of the sentences more easily. However, the structures of English and Vietnamese noun phrases are quite complex, including many constituents and many levels. In this article, the author will find out common errors (from a syntactic perspective) of 3rd year students of the English Faculty of Thuongmai University in translating noun phrases from English to Vietnamese and vice versa in business and economic articles. Thereby, we propose some solutions to minimize the errors in translating noun phrases from English to Vietnamese and vice versa.
