Abstract

There are many researchers interested in studying motifs in folklore. This article delves into some motifs in the fairy tales of the San Diu ethnic minority people in Vietnam; analyzes the relationship between motif and plot; explains the layers of profound meanings that are discreetly conveyed through typical motifs; thereby, it shows the national cultural features of the San Diu ethnic minority people reflected in the construction of motifs in the San Diu fairy tales.
