This paper studies the language assessment attitudes of the recipients towards the linguistic landscapes in public transport areas in Ho Chi Minh City. From the approach of sociolinguistics, through the use of combined quantitative and qualitative methods, the authors analyze and evaluate the recipients’ linguistic attitudes towards the linguistic landscapes at two important public transport areas, including Tan Son Nhat airport and Bach Dang waterbus station, based on 185 actual survey samples. The survey and analysis results show the importance and necessity of using languages expressed through monolingual and bilingual signs in some public transport areas in Ho Chi Minh City to meet the “open door” policy of Vietnam in the current period of international integration.
