Exploring Dico en ligne Le Robert - An online French explanatory dictionary

Abstract

This article explores some concepts of online dictionaries and a specific French explanatory dictionary website Dico en ligne Le Robert in order to draw on the experience that the compilers of the online Vietnamese explanatory dictionaries can apply to their work. Research results show that the biggest differences and advantages of online dictionaries lies in the unlimited amount of information, the update of information and many possibilities for searching information. Specifically, through the Dico en ligne Le Robert, users can find word meanings (including newly appearing words), synonyms, examples, word meanings in the dictionaries published in the 17th century, conjugation, grammar, and spelling rules, etc. The information provided on this website covers most of what a French learner or user needs.
