The appearance of the legends of place names in Bac Ninh province

Abstract

Bac Ninh is the place that preserves quite bold types of culture and folklore; from myths, legends, fairy tales, jokes to proverbs and folk songs. All of these genres are rich in quantity, diverse in content and imbued with regional cultural nuances. But the most special thing is the legends of place names. From the survey and fieldwork results, we have gathered 52 oral stories. These stories are often associated with festivals and local historical sites and reflect the cultural life of the ancient Bac Ninh people. Generalizing the appearance of the legends of place names in Bac Ninh province aims to clarify the richness and diversity of the source of folk tales that is still silently flowing in the cultural flow of Kinh  Bac people; affirm the position and meaning of this sub-category in the genre of folk legend
