The challenges faced by English teachers in rural primary schools

Abstract

In recent years, Vietnam has experienced an explosive growth in English language teaching at all levels, including primary level. Despite significant progress, especially thanks to the National Foreign Languages Project 2020, there have been many challenges affecting the quality of English teaching and learning at primary level. The article uses the results of a survey on 25 primary school English teachers in rural areas. Data collection tools include questionnaires and interviews. The article summarizes and describes the difficulties faced by teachers of English in rural primary schools, specifically Thach That district, Hanoi, in their teaching process in the current conditions, then offers several suggestions for improving curent situation.
