A study on the conceptual metaphor “MEN ARE PLANTS” in Vietnamese literature in the 20th century

Abstract

The article explores the mapping mechanism of the conceptual metaphor “MEN ARE PLANTS” in Vietnamese literature in the 20th century, with the source domain “plant” being mapped onto the target domain “men”. Within the scope of this article, the conceptual metaphor “MEN ARE PLANTS” is sub-divided into three categories, including APPEARANCE, CHARACTERISTICS, MENTAL STATUS OF MEN ARE APPEARANCE, CHARACTERISTIC S, BIOLOGICAL STATUS OF PLANTS; MEN’S ACTIVITIES ARE PLANTS’ ACTIVITIES and ACTIVITIES DONE TO MEN ARE ACTIVITIES DONE TO PLANTS.
