Researching to compile an Encyclopedic Dictionary of French culinary loanwords in Vietnamese

Abstract

French had been introduced to Vietnam during the French colonial period. The process of language contact between French and Vietnamese has left a huge treasure of French loanwords in Vietnamese. The article aims to study some issues in compiling the Encyclopedic Dictionary of French culinary loanwords in Vietnamese. Specifically, the article points out the necessity of compiling this dictionary and determines the micro- and macro-structures of the work.
