Suggestions of some supporting tools for designing English reading assessment tasks

Abstract

The use of information technology is now widespread in assessing English skills, particularly in reading comprehension assessment - one of the crucial skills in foreign language acquisition. The article explores key considerations when designing reading materials and tasks, and offers a range of supporting tools to facilitate this process. The article focuses on presenting the tools that can be used to create reading comprehension passages and tasks to meet  learners’ levels, aimed at achieving the testing and assessment objectives. This article also includes guidelines for designing reading comprehension materials and tasks that draw on practical insights. The article should serve as a valuable resource for teachers and test developers, assisting them in crafting effective reading comprehension assessments that enhance student learning.
