Analysis of the semantic changing phenomenon of the taste word “辣” (spicy) in Chinese

Abstract

The article studies the taste word “辣” (spicy) in modern Chinese from the perspective of cognitive linguistics. On the basis of the graphological analysis of the word “辣”(spicy) combined with BCC (Beijing Language University corpus), CCL (Chinese Linguistics Research Center corpus, Peking University), and some other corpora, the article focuses on studying the mechanism of expanding the meanings of the taste word “辣” (spicy) as well as the mapping relationship from the source domain “辣” (spicy) to different target domains
