Noting parts of speech in the Vietnamese Dictionary for Primary School Students

Abstract

The Vietnamese parts of speech have been studied for a long time in the Vietnamese grammar works in particular as well as in the ones on Vietnamese in general. In 1651, they had been also mentioned in Alexandre de Rhodes’s Brief Report on Annam or Dong Kinh in the Annam - Lusitan - Latin Dictionary (commonly known as the Vietnamese - Portuguese - Latin Dictionary). Since then, many Vietnamese grammar works by many different authors have discussed them. The article presents some issues about Vietnamese parts of speech and noting them in the Vietnamese Dictionary for Primary School Students.
