Current situation of English - Vietnamese translation of Criminal procedure law terms

Abstract

Translation is a linguistic communication activity, translating meaning from the source language to the target language while ensuring consistency in both content and form. This paper studies on English - Vietnamese translation of 1937 English terms from the Criminal Procedure Law extracted from English-Vietnamese Law Dictionary by Vu Trong Hung et al. (2000) , the English-English-Vietnamese Police Dictionary by Dang Xuan Khang et al. (2018), and a number of relevant English-Vietnamese legal documents. Through this study, the problems of translating these terms, focusing on structure, content and mode of translation are clarified.
