The article deals with acoustic parameters related to the vibration of the vocal cords. The parameters indicate the stability and instability of the vocal cords (Jitter); determine the difference in amplitude of sound waves between a cycle and consecutive cycles (Shimmer); determine the ratio between the sound caused by the vocal cords vibrating and the noise caused by air rubbing through the vocal fold, allowing for the assessment of voice quality (HNR). These parameters are important in the diagnosis and assessment of voice disorders. At the same time, the article also presents the results of comparison of the values of these parameters in normal healthy people with people with vocal cord diseases such as vocal cord polyps, vocal cord cysts, and vocal cord nodules.
