Applying transitivity model of systemic functional

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to apply the transitivity model, which is accepted widely within the Systemic Functional Grammar framework as a central model for clause parsing, to analyze Vietnamese clauses. To achieve this goal, in addition to the introduction and the conclusion, the paper is organized into two main parts: section 2 briefly presents the transitivity model as formulated by Halliday in his Introduction to Functional Grammar; section 3 is an application of this model to analyze Vietnamese clauses. The analysis results show that the transitivity model can be used to effectively analyze Vietnamese clauses.
