Abstract

The dialect spoken in Bo Trach district, Quang Binh province still preserves many typical phonetic features valuable in the study of Vietnamese historical phonetics. Based on the results of the survey and analysis with the help of some phonetic analysis software, this paper will investigate some consonants that are considered different from the Vietnamese language but are still used by Bo Trach people in everyday speech. The experimental results help visualize clearly the existence of these consonants in the actual pronunciation in Bo Trach. These are important data for studying Vietnamese language history in general and historical phonetics in particular.
