Typical characteristics of the word 好 in modern Chinese and equivalence expressions in Vietnamese

Abstract

The word 好 is commonly used in Chiness. Previous research has studied this word in various aspects such as semantics, grammar, pragmatics, culture, etc. Nevertheless, there are not many in – depth studies focusing on its word forms, especially comparisons with equivalent expressions in Vietnamese. This research aims to address this gap. We have listed and analyzed the characteristics of the word  好 which can can function as an adjective, an adverb, a verb, a noun, a conjunction, a particle, ect. From these characteristics, we have compared with equivalent expressions in Vietnamese. In Vietnamese, 好 can be translated as good, well done, very, so, too, much, crowded, long, easy, fond of, favorable, habitual, usually, to, ect. We hope that this article will be a useful reference for those interested in this subject.
