For examining the characteristics of verb phrase structures usage, the paper uses a method of recording children's storytelling based on pictures and analyzes the verb phrase structures in their speech. The results obtained will then be compared with corresponding survey results of native Vietnamese children. From this, the paper draws conclusions about the linguistic features of Vietnamese-Japanese mixed children in understanding and using Vietnamese as a heritage language.
