A Comparative Analysis of the initial consonant system of Nung Xuong and some other Nung dialects in Vietnam

Abstract

This article is written with the aim of comparing the initial consonant system of Nung Xuong with some Nung dialects in Vietnam on a synchronic level to see the similarities and differences. The survey results on the homogeneous and reciprocal correspondence between the Nung Xuong initial consonant system and the two Nung An and Nung Giang dialects show that the correspondence between the Nung Xuong initial consonants and the initial consonants of the two Nung dialects under consideration is not high and is not logical in the relationship between dialects of the same language. This raises the question: Are they really part of the same language subgroup, closely related?!!!
