Abstract

This paper presents the results of a study on students' attitudes toward teachers' feedback in the classroom at Hanoi College of Economics and Industry. The study identified five preferred feedback strategies among students: (1) repeating the correct answer, (2) praise, (3) direct acceptance, (4) requesting further explanation, and (5) direct error correction; and five unpreferred feedback strategies: (1) direct confirmation by turning the conversation, (2) confirmation through metalinguistic questions, (3) repeating the error in incorrect answers, and (4) repeating the error with a skeptical tone, (5) metalinguistic feedback. The strategy of direct criticism of incorrect answers was chosen by half of the students.
