Vietnamese function words from another perspective

Abstract

Function words are a common problem of traditional grammar. Function words are considered a grammatical means more important for isolated languages, including Vietnamese. Up to now, Vietnamese function words have been surveyed and commented mainly on the level of syntax. New achievements in linguistic research has added a basis to approach this problem from different perspectives. This article contributes an observation and suggests a different perspective for Vietnamese function words: a Functional Perspective.
