Enhancing learning motivation in Japanese language students through active learning methods in debate classes

Abstract

This study focuses on the practical application of Active Learning methods in the Japanese debate class of intermediate-level students majoring in Japanese Language, to improve students' learning motivation in learning Japanese. The results obtained from the experimental lessons and the survey of lecturers and students show that the debate class in Japanese applied Active Learning method has improved the students' motivation. Second, the data show that there is not much difference in learning motivation of the students between face-to-face and online classes. Third, the data shows the factors affecting the learning motivation of students during the debate class applying the Active Learning method, thereby making some suggestions for improving the learning motivation of students majoring in Japanese language.
