Abstract

The article conducted a survey of pronunciation errors of a number of groups of pre-school children (from 3 to 6 years old) using cochlear implants. Survey results show that all surveyed hearing impaired children aged 3 - 6 years old had pronunciation errors in all 5 components of Vietnamese syllables  tone, initial phoneme, middle phoneme, main phoneme, and final phoneme. Errors in middle phoneme were the least frequent, errors in initial phoneme and tones were the most frequent. Besides, the research results also show that the level of pronunciation errors of hearing impaired children was different at different age stages. Based on the survey findings, we propose some measures to correct pronunciation errors in these children.
