Some trends of sound change from Proto Kra to Nùng Vẻn

Abstract

Nung Ven is a subgroup of Nung ethnic group in Vietnam. Rather than speaking Tai language as other Nung subgroups, Nung Ven people speak a Kadai language as asserted in recent researches. Among diachronic features of Nung Ven language, sound changes from Proto Kra are still less known. In this circumstance, based on available data, this paper will inspect reflexes of Proto Kra words in Nung Ven language spoken in Ca Tieng village, Noi Thon commune, Ha Quang district, Cao Bang province of Vietnam to point out sound changes from Proto Kra to Nung Ven language
